Meet the Serenity Robe

My latest pattern has arrived!  Meet the Serenity Robe.  This is the epitome of lounge wear.  I love slipping into sweats and throwing on my robe when I get off work.  It fits loose, but not too loose where it gets in the way.  Below I'm outlining the features, project difficulty, different fabric recommendations and an FAQ.

Project Features

The Serenity Robe has one variation, but that's because just a simple fabric change can completely transform the look, no pattern adjustments necessary.  The dropped sleeves allow plenty of movement and make the construction much simpler than set-in sleeves.  The open front creates more flexibility in sizing and makes construction easier.

Project Difficulty

This is a beginner friendly project for people with basic sewing experience.  If you've successfully completed any of the patterns in the Free Content Shop, you're ready for this pattern.  If you're a beginner though, I'd suggest being mindful of the fabric you use.  For more experienced seamstresses, this project is a great opportunity to practice sewing on new fabrics.

Fabric Recommendations

For beginners, try using flannel or a medium-weight cotton fabric.  This is easy to work with and makes for a comfortable robe.

Velvets and silks are a great choice for the Serenity Robe, but they require a more experienced seamstress.  Thicker fabrics like fleece can also be used, but I recommend going a size up to add extra ease to accommodate a bulkier fabric.

FAQ

Can I make this using my home sewing machine?
You bet!  This pattern can be exclusively done on a home sewing machine.  In my video tutorial, I serged all of the edges prior to sewing.  This just made the fabric easier to work with while sewing.

What is included with this pattern?
When you purchase this pattern, you will receive a digital copy of the Serenity Robe pattern and the instructions. The pattern instructions include written and illustrated directions. There is also a video tutorial that walks you through every step of the printing, cutting and sewing process.

What if I don’t know how to use digital sewing patterns?
Don’t you worry. I have a detailed video explaining the process of downloading and printing digital sewing patterns. It’s way easier than you may think.

I’m still new to sewing, will this be too difficult for me?
There’s no time like the present to learn a new skill.  While this might take you a little longer than the recommended time, it’s definitely doable for those new to sewing. This project is perfect for beginners and will teach you valuable skills when it comes to creating your own clothing.  If you’ve never sewn before, I suggest you check out some of the patterns in the Free Content Shop. These are much smaller projects and more manageable to begin with while you learn to use your sewing machine.

Happy Sewing,
