Meet the Dream Pajama Short

Meet the Dream Pajama Short

The Dream Pajama Short is live in the Pattern Shop! I’ve been doing a lot of beginner friendly patterns lately, and this is yet another. If you’ve never sewn pants before or have struggled with this skill in the past, this is a great project to learn and practice on. Below I'm outlining the features, project difficulty, fabric recommendations and an FAQ.

Project Features

The Dream Pajama Short has one variation, but it does have two different waistband widths based on the elastic size you prefer.  The encased elastic waistband provides for a comfortable fit around the waist, and the stitching keeps the elastic from rolling during washing and wearing.

Project Difficulty

This is a beginner friendly project for people with basic sewing experience.  If you've successfully completed any of the patterns in the Free Content Shop, you're ready for this pattern.  If you're a beginner though, I'd suggest being mindful of the fabric you use.  For more experienced seamstresses, this project is a great opportunity to practice sewing on new fabrics.

Fabric Recommendations

For beginners, try using flannel or a medium-weight cotton fabric.  This is easy to work with and makes for a comfortable short.  For intermediates and experts, thicker fabrics like fleece can also be used, but I recommend going a size up to add extra ease.  Silks are more difficult to use, but create luxurious loungewear.

FAQ

Can I make this using my home sewing machine?
You bet!  This pattern can be exclusively done on a home sewing machine.  In my video tutorial, I serged all of the edges after sewing each seam.  This just made the fabric easier to work with while sewing and gave it a more professional finish.

What is included with this pattern?
When you purchase this pattern, you will receive a digital copy of the Dream Pajama Short pattern and the instructions. The pattern instructions include written and illustrated directions. There is also a video tutorial that walks you through every step of the printing, cutting and sewing process.

What if I don’t know how to use digital sewing patterns?
Don’t you worry. I have a detailed video explaining the process of downloading and printing digital sewing patterns. It’s way easier than you may think.

I’m still new to sewing, will this be too difficult for me?
There’s no time like the present to learn a new skill.  While this might take you a little longer than the recommended time, it’s definitely doable for those new to sewing. This project is perfect for beginners and will teach you valuable skills when it comes to creating your own clothing.  If you’ve never sewn before, I suggest you check out some of the patterns in the Free Content Shop. These are much smaller projects and more manageable to begin with while you learn to use your sewing machine.

Happy Sewing,
