I’M SARAH,

THE CREATIVE MIND BEHIND TAILORED TRENDS.

I believe sewing is a powerful way to express creativity, and my mission is to make the process approachable for sewists of all skill levels. With over 15 years of experience, including a degree in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design from Iowa State University, I’ve worked in both the cheer and luxury fashion industries, giving me a unique perspective on design and craftsmanship.

At Tailored Trends, I create sewing patterns that simplify the art of garment-making. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced sewist, my patterns come with detailed video, written, and illustrated instructions, because I know everyone learns differently. I want to help you build your handmade wardrobe with confidence—no matter your experience level.

My passion for teaching and helping others thrive in their sewing journey is what drives me every day. Through Tailored Trends, I’m honored to serve as both a creator and an educator, and I’m excited to be part of your sewing adventure!

Follower of Christ

First and foremost, I’m a beloved child of God. It’s easy to lose my identity in all these other titles, but my purpose is found through Christ.

Wife

I’ve been married to my husband for almost 7 years. We’re high school sweethearts and have been together for almost 12 years.

Foster Mom

You won’t see much of this on my website or social media, but you may notice the premature aging.

Small Business Owner

While this title still feels like a hobby, I’m so excited to jump into this role in full force and see where it takes me.

Educator

I’ve always had a love for education. Getting to combine my love of creativity and education into my work with Tailored Trends is a dream.

Designer

I never considered myself a designer, but when people ask what I do, I say I’m a designer. Every pattern at Tailored Trends is created by me, from concept to completion.
